The Association of Municipalities of South Attica (SYDNA) is a Legal Entity under Public Law that was established in April 2017 (Government Gazette B '1215/2017). Its establishment consists of the intermunicipal cooperation between the municipalities of Alimos, Kallithea and P. Faliro based in the Municipality of Kallithea due to its larger population. In February 2018, within the framework of the Regional Operational Program Attiki 2014-2020, the Strategy for Sustainable Urban Development of the Association of Municipalities of South Attica (SYDNA) was approved. With the approval of the Strategy, the implementation of a large investment project was launched by the Association of Municipalities of South Attica entitled: "Music and the history of the streets", with a budget of total public expenditure of 35,416,200.00 €, which includes initiatives, economic, social and environmental development and interventions in many areas that affect the daily lives of citizens and contribute to the image of a sustainable city.The establishment of SYDNA is a big step for claiming a dynamic role from the local government. The main concern of the Association is the joint development of the municipalities of the coastal front and their upgrade. More specifically, SYDNA aims: 1. In the joint planning and execution of projects of intermunicipal character, utilizing all the financial possibilities at national, Community and international level. 2. In the economic upgrade of the area. 3. In the elaboration of studies and the development of research activity. 4. In the cooperation of the municipalities for more efficient execution of their work. 5. In the protection and upgrading of the environment. 6. In the connection of the urban fabric with the coastal front of the cities. 7. In the utilization of the coastal front and the hinterland for purposes of culture, sports and leisure. 8. In highlighting historical events, landscapes and monuments. 9. In the dynamic claim of the maximum possible benefit for the society as a whole.

The aim of the union of the three Municipalities, is the implementation of actions for "Integrated Spatial Investments (I.S.I.) of Sustainable Urban Development (S.U.D.)" in the framework of the Regional Operational Program 'ATTICA 2014–2020'.

The strategy of the three Municipalities of the southern sector focuses on the development of a network of activities in the fields of tourism - culture with the maximum possible diffusion of the benefits arising from the operation of the SNFCC to be the main goal of the program, as a pole of national and international scope, combined with Faliriko Bay and the Metropolitan Pole of Elliniko.

Intervention Area is the area of the Southern Sector of Attica where, are determined by the Athens - Attica Master Plan. The first is the Pole of Faliriko Bay, which includes the Metropolitan Park of Faliriko Bay, on the sea fronts of the Municipalities of Kallithea and P. Faliro and the area of the old Hippodrome - Cultural Center Stavros Niarchos Foundation, in the Municipality of Kallithea. The second is the Metropolitan Pole of Elliniko - Agios Kosmas (the development area of Elliniko occupies part of the Municipality of Alimos, at its southern end). At the northwestern end of the area passes the Central Axis of the Urban Complex of Syggrou Avenue and to the southeast, Posidonos Avenue, Axis of the sea front of the Urban Complex.
